Trent Thomason (born February 4, 1972) is an American musician, songwriter, singer, and keyboardist. He was the keyboardist of Petra from 1999 to 2000.

BiographyEdit

Trent Thomason grew up in Long Beach, California. He began playing professionally at the age of 18 with his grandfather, Jimmy Thomason, a professional bluegrass musician and host of the Jimmy Thomason Show in Bakersfield, CA. From 1998 to 1999, he was the Music Director at Cottonwood Church in Los Alamitos, CA.

In 1999, Thomason graduated from Chapman University School of Music with a Bachelor of Music. He decided to move to Melbourne, Australia and was there for 6 months when he got the call to audition for Petra. He accepted the band's invitation to join the band but decided to return to Australia with his family due to the lack of live dates the band was getting at the time, which made it difficult for him to commit to the band full-time.

Trent now resides in Melbourne, Australia with his family and is a session musician.

PetraEdit

Six months after moving to Australia, he received a call to audition for Petra. Instead of flying to Nashville, Trent recorded himself singing and playing, and sent it to the band. They then decided to bring him to the United States and hire him.

During his tenure with Petra, Thomason contributed to the recording of the Grammy-winning album Double Take, which was released in 2000. However, Thomason ended up playing only a handful of live shows during the summer of 1999. After Double Take, he decided to leave the band and return to Australia.

After PetraEdit

Back in Australia, Thomason sang and played keyboards on two albums recorded through the church he was attending. After that, Thomason has released two solo albums: Hold Out Your Hands in 2002, and Ten in 2004. Also, Thomason has continued to work regularly as a session musician.

Personal lifeEdit

Thomason is married to Alison, with whom he has four children: Bailey, Ainsley, Josie and Jeremy. They live in Melbourne, Australia.
